Monshati, in collaboration with the Legal Clinic at An-Najah National University, held a legal day titled "Explaining the Legal Procedures for Customs Clearance via the Kerem Shalom Crossing" in Khan Younis Governorate. On Sunday, June 26, 2023,  A group of merchants and companies listed on the Chamber of Commerce attended the event.

Mr. Mohammed Fawzi Abu Taha, the Chamber's Secretary, welcomed the esteemed attendees, emphasizing the Chamber's significant role in serving the interests of merchants. He expressed gratitude for the cooperation with the Legal Clinic at An-Najah National University in raising legal awareness and education. Expert speakers, including Mr. Mahmoud Al-Aqad and Mr. Jamal Al-Zayyan, addressed the legal day's topic during the event.

Eng. Raed Ahmed Abu Daghim, the coordinator of the legal day, highlighted the constructive partnership between the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Khan Younis Governorate and the Legal Clinic at An-Najah National University. He discussed the role of the Legal Clinic in promoting a culture of human rights protection in society, enhancing legal awareness, and empowering individuals from various segments of society to access justice. He praised the pivotal role played by the clinic in raising awareness of legal issues among merchants in the Gaza Strip.

This event is part of a series of legal meetings being conducted in the Gaza Strip. The floor for discussion was opened for attendees and substantive interventions, allowing attendees to engage in discussions with the expert speakers regarding the new mechanisms and to present creative proposals that rely on digitization and align with global digital advancements for implementation at the crossings.

It is worth mentioning that this meeting is part of the activities of the project to enhance the sustainability of the Legal Clinic at An-Najah National University, funded by the Sawasya II program, and implemented through the UNDP, UN Women, and UNICEF.
